South Georgia
It took over 3 days to get to South Georgia from the south – enough time to ponder the images that the name conjures up. Images of explorers bouncing around in boats and scaling high mountains. Images of whalers fighting mother nature and generally winning. Images of storms and wild weather. Now the old explorers in their burberries have been replaced by mountain climbers in bright goretex, and in place of the whalers are travellers here to revere mother nature. In the foreground are seals and penguins and albatross, and behind them are mountains that pierce the sky.
